Report here on how I did, only the ones I’d have to actually do something for, not the ones I already did.
take shorter showers and/or use a water saving showerhead
I actually did take remarkably short showers this week.
be aware of water usage when at the kitchen sink – turn it off in between tasks
We did pretty good here, but mainly due to lack of any actual dish washing taking place.
save the water in a bucket that is discharged while warming up the shower and use it to water plants or for other things
I know how lame this sounds, but I couldn’t find a bucket.
minimize pre-packaged foods and make more of your own from scratch
Um, this was a bad week, but since it was so bad, we also didn’t do any grocery shopping (no time). So – score?
don’t get take-out if it means non-recyclable packaging*
No take out this week.
]try eating vegetarian or vegan for the week (choose your level from egg/dairy acceptable to no animals products at all)
Nope, not at all.
print out only what is necessary
I did keep Wally from drawing on invoices, and he used only waste paper to draw on.
Reduce your garbage output -
this is really funny, because right now on my curb is a stuffed full garbage carton, plus five extra bags with the Extra Item stickers. ha ha ha. We just did some major cleaning out and literally all that was junk. AFTER we took out the freecycle items and the salvation army items
recycle everything you can (for your area)
Pretty much, I learned that we can’t recycle much more than we already do.
take your name off of junk mail and mailing lists for catalogs you don’t want
“Will look into legitimate websites to stop junk mail.” was my goal. It’s, uh, on my to do list.
I also didn’t throw out all my incandescent bulbs, which was the suggestion of a commenter. I’m not sure how creating a lot of unnecessary waste by throwing away new items is that much better of an option.
