We went into Boulder yesterday, it’s so fun driving from the mountains into the nothingness of the plains. I mean, it just literally drops off. Mountains, flat, mountains, flat. Anyway. The zoo in Boulder is nice, even nicer since it was free with our Blank Park Zoo membership card. It’s about the same size as Blank Park Zoo, but set up much differently. Their “contact area” was not nearly as nice, and the goats were not friendly at all. There were a few nurslings there, which was sweet. Wally noted that they were getting boobies.
We also spent some time in the pool, but Wally had just gotten into the water when they came to close it due to an oncoming storm. And what a storm it was. Wally actually feels safer in the car, and every time it starts to thunder, he wants to drive somewhere. We’d been wanting to check out this scenic drive here called Skyline Drive anyway, so we did what any reasonable person does in a lightening storm – we drove to the highest point in the city. (Actually, the storm was on the other side of the ridge from us, and we decided it was low risk.) The drive was nice, very bizarre, with no guardrails and a steep dropoff on either side. Randy told me I better enjoy the view for both of us since he didn’t dare look around!
um…Today (Sunday), we went to this place called Buckskin Joe’s. Completely lame, even Wally kind of thought so. A western town with a poorly acted shootout every few hours. We got to ride a horse-drawn carriage, and then we took a train. Those were the highlights.
We’ve been in the pool for a while, then I left to check the reciprocity agreements for the zoo in Colorado Springs. (and there is none, darn, but we’re going anyway.) Thought I’d upload some more photos even though it’s painfully slow.
