So last week or the week before, Bleeding Heartland tweeted:
RT @KagroX Secession killed 200 times more Americans than 9/11. TX GOP? Evenly divided on doing it again.
That RT means it was a “re-tweet” from KagroX. That means that they just copy/pasted someone else’s tweet. So it wasn’t Bleeding Heartland’s post. I was reading on my IPod Touch at a vendor fair and missed the RT part.
But let’s talk about that. Secession killed 200 times more Americans than 9/11? Without looking up statistics on deaths on 9/11 and without doing any math, I can tell you that statement is untrue.
Secession, in fact, has killed nobody.
The President engaging in an illegal war to force states who were well within their rights to remove themselves from the Union to recant and come back… yeah, that killed a lot of people.
I know this is kind of fringe. I mean, it’s not really fringe. It’s fact. But it’s not politically correct, not the accepted revised version of American History taught in government schools. But the South was well within their rights to leave the Union. The North was NOT within their rights to try (successfully, in the end) to force the South to remain with the Union.
Secession killed nobody.
